Integrated HIV, GBV and SRH Services in Mulanje
HIV & Health Services T/A Mabuka and T/A Njema, Mulanje District Started: Jan 01, 2018 Completed: Dec 31, 2019

About the Project

Holistic Approach to Health

Health challenges do not exist in isolation. HIV, gender-based violence, and sexual health are interconnected, especially for vulnerable women and girls. This UNAIDS-funded project took an integrated approach, addressing multiple health needs simultaneously.

Service Integration:

  • HIV testing and referrals to care
  • GBV screening and support services
  • SRHR education and family planning
  • Reaching key populations with tailored services
  • Community awareness and sensitization

Geographic Coverage:

The project operated in Traditional Authorities Mabuka and Njema in Mulanje District, extending Umunthu Foundation's reach beyond Blantyre to serve rural communities with limited access to comprehensive health services.

Impact:

Hundreds of reproductive-age men and women, adolescents, and key populations received integrated services that addressed their holistic health needs, not just isolated symptoms or risks.
