Umunthu Foundation is a legally registered NGO serving underserved communities in Malawi since 2006. We provide comprehensive HIV services, empower youth through education, and defend human rights with a focus on women, girls, and people living with HIV.

Our Mission

Umunthu Foundation is a local NGO working to improve the quality of life for people affected by HIV, and other vulnerable groups, in underserved communities of Malawi. In collaboration with our strategic partners, we provide comprehensive HIV services; promote human rights and gender equity; and support efforts aimed at alleviating poverty.

David Odal

David Odal

Founder & Executive Director

David founded Umunthu Foundation in 2006 with a passion for addressing HIV/AIDS stigma and improving healthcare access. With support from local social work activists, he has grown the organization from a single clinic to three facilities serving over 1,500 clients. David leads program development, resource mobilization, and strategic partnerships.

Umunthu Foundation is governed by a Board of Five Trustees consisting of individuals with high integrity and professional expertise. The Board provides strategic direction, ensures accountability, and oversees organizational compliance with regulatory requirements.
