About the Project

A Transformative Partnership

From 2010 to 2020, Avert of the United Kingdom provided sustained support that enabled Umunthu Foundation to transform HIV services in Blantyre. This long-term commitment allowed us to plan strategically, build infrastructure, and establish sustainable service delivery models.

Key Achievements:

• Expansion of HIV testing services to Bangwe and Limbe Health Centres
• Construction and handover of ART clinic at Limbe Health Centre (2017)
• Integration of SRHR education with football coaching (partnership with Tackle Africa)
• Establishment of Anti-AIDS Youth Clubs in schools
• Sustained operation of Umunthu Foundation Clinic with over 1,500 ART clients
• Continuous free drug supplies and CD4 monitoring equipment

This project demonstrated that long-term investment in local organizations creates lasting community impact. The infrastructure and systems built during this partnership continue serving thousands of people today.
