1,500 Lives and Counting: The Impact of Free ART Services

Breaking Down Barriers to Life-Saving Treatment

When cost becomes a barrier to healthcare, lives are lost unnecessarily. At Umunthu Foundation, we believe that no one should be denied life-saving HIV treatment because they cannot afford it. That is why all our services – from testing to treatment to ongoing support – are provided completely free of charge.

Our Impact by the Numbers

  • 1,500+ registered ART clients receiving ongoing care
  • 3 clinics providing comprehensive HIV services
  • 100% free services including CD4 monitoring, counseling, and ART drugs
  • Zero kilometers – bringing care directly to underserved communities

What Free ART Services Mean

Viral Load Suppression: Our clients achieve and maintain undetectable viral loads, meaning they stay healthy and cannot transmit HIV to others.

Adherence Support: Regular counseling sessions help clients stay on treatment and manage side effects.

Family Impact: Healthy parents can work, care for children, and contribute to their communities.

Stigma Reduction: As more people access treatment openly, community attitudes toward HIV continue to improve.

The Blantyre District Health Office provides continuous supplies of ART drugs to our facilities, ensuring no client ever goes without their medication. Our partnership with government health services strengthens the entire healthcare system.
